The Painting School at the Goetheanum has as the basis of its curriculum Rudolf Steiner’s indications for a new art of painting: the training sketches for painters and his colour theory. We favour watercolour, plant-based pigments which have a particular light quality and are therapeutic through their enlivening effect on the soul. Painting forms the main part of the training while the study of Rudolf Steiner's lectures on art and colour are the basis for the study periods. Throughout the three to four year training, the teaching takes place in the mornings. Students are expected to organise their own practice time in the afternoon or at weekends. It is possible to take a one year or a one term course geared to the needs of the individual. Visitors are also welcome to join the school for a short period. Foundations can be laid for further practising and research.
